Dipping into the Summer Wardrobe
La finally had its first full week of heat. We get the occasional 80 degree tease in spring but summer finally came to play. & I’m not exactly in a panic… I am in a bit of a (material) rut trying to figure out what I actually need to survive the hotness.
A colorful ballet flat is the fastest way to resuscitate a boring summer outfit. It’s the loophole for color commitment when your closet leans more neutral.
Even less of a commitment than a shoe: a colorful or just interesting sock. Socks don’t exactly scream summer but when they’re sheer, colorful or just the right amount of wrong they make a simple dress & pump combo feel more fab.
I mean a little vintage dress for summer. It’s bread & butter. Obvious, necessary, forever in rotation.
I feel that a white pump can go 1 of 2 ways… extremely cheap or extremely charming. These all pass the test: darling, not plasticy.
some vintage moments
Lacy cami tops are peak 2000s sweet sexiness. I used to obsess over paparazzi shots of my favorite It-girls (Britney, Selena, Miley) counting down the years until I could look like them. I did what I could in 2nd grade…I had a whole rotation: navy, white, & my prized pink tiedye…layered over tees, obviously. Now I finally get to embody that effortless, fragile, flirty energy only a great cami top can possess.
